ABOUT LAYLA
Layla Saliba (she/her) is a writer and social worker, based in New York City. Born and raised in North Carolina, she is a recent graduate of Columbia University, with a Masters in Social Work on the Policy Practice with a concentration in Health, Mental Health, and Disabilities. She has a bachelors degree from North Carolina State University in Psychology with a Minor in Social Work.
Layla is an experienced writer and advocate for social change with an emphasis on working with people with disabilities, healthcare policy, and civic engagement.
Highlights include:
Worked with student leaders at NC State to successfully advocate for free menstrual products on campus. NC State is the first public university in the UNC system to provide free menstrual products to students.
Successfully advocated for increased funding towards endometriosis research in the North Carolina State legislature. Resulted in over $1 million dollars going towards new research.
Wrote an option article for The Nation about the 2024 Election. My article was The Nation's top viewed article of the day and received millions of organic social media impressions.
